Karl: A season’s best away display

6 April 2015

Karl Robinson says Saturday’s success over Swindon Town was his side’s ‘best away performance of the season’.

Robinson’s Dons leapfrogged their Sky Bet League 1 promotion rivals with a terrific 3-0 triumph at the County Ground - one which came courtesy of Daniel Powell’s seventh goal of the campaign, a second straight brace from Will Grigg and the team’s 20th clean sheet.

The victory, the men from MK1’s third on the bounce, keeps them in with a chance of catching second-placed Preston North End, with just seven games remaining in the 2014/15 season.

“It was the best away performance of the season and what a great time to get it,” Robinson told MK Dons Player after the match. “The players deserve an awful lot of credit today. I think anybody who has seen that performance will be very impressed by us.”

“It’s been a hard-working week that has really paid off in our favour. We did everything we possibly could to win this football match so I’m really pleased. We can walk away with our heads held high.”

The Dons were backed by close to 900 away fans in Wiltshire, despite the earlier kick-off and the fact the game was being shown live on Sky Sports - manager Robinson was eager to pay tribute to the support after the game.

“(The fans) were brilliant,” he added. “I got a bit carried away at the end but you don’t get these opportunities very often.

“We try extremely hard, on a weekly basis, for them to be proud of us and we hope they are after this.”

The Dons are back in action on Tuesday night when they host Scunthorpe United at stadiummk – tickets are priced from £20 for adults, £15 for seniors and £6 for U18s, while U12s can go for FREE with a Young Dons membership.
