Grigg gunning for second place

16 April 2015

Will Grigg insists the Dons will do all they can to chase down an automatic promotion spot in Sky Bet League 1.

Karl Robinson’s side moved to within three points of second place after beating Fleetwood Town 3-0 on the same night Preston North End were held to a 2-2 draw by Gillingham at Deepdale.

“It’s out of our hands but we’ve said we’ve got to be ready in case (Preston) slip up and they did (on Tuesday),” Grigg told MK Dons Player after the game.

“We can only focus on ourselves and try and win every game we’ve got left - if we do that then we’ve got a chance.”

As well as help the men from MK1 to victory on Tuesday, Grigg also became the first Dons player since 2006/07 to reach 20 goals in a season when he outmuscled his way into the Cod Army penalty area on 74 minutes and fired a right-footed shot into the bottom corner.

“It was nice to get my 20th goal but the main thing was the three points - overall it was a great evening.

“It was a punt up-field but it was in a good area for to me challenge for it. I was able to nudge the first defender off and the second defender then showed me onto my right foot so I was happy to take it down there and get my finish off.”

Grigg and the Dons are back in action on Saturday when they face Leyton Orient at stadiummk - tickets are priced from just £20 adults and £6 for under-18s while under-12s can go FREE with a Young Dons membership.
