Karl Robinson says he couldn’t have asked for any more from his players following their 5-3 victory over Barnsley at Oakwell.
“It was a fantastic performance,” he told MK Dons Player after the game. “In the first 10 minutes we rode our luck a bit and they had a chance when we switched off from a throw-in but, from then on, we were sensational.
“We scored five goals from five different goalscorers and that’s now 11 goals from our two ‘number 9s’, which is a real positive for us moving forward. Playing up front in this system is hard work but the strikers are reaping the rewards.
“As well as the goals, I’m really pleased with how we played and how hungry we looked. I spoke to Lewie at 5-3 and even then, there was a calmness about him and the team. I thought the players conducted themselves very well.
“There were lots of positives to take from the game and I believe we’ve gone up another place in the table, still with that game in hand, so hopefully we can build on this.”
Three of the five scorers on Saturday were players signed in the summer by Robinson and the Club’s recruitment team, and the Dons boss spoke of his delight at how well his new-look squad has bonded already.
He added: “We’ve got some new recruits in the team so there were a lot of singers in the hotel on Friday night.
“The group just seems to be getting on so well and they’re going to need that bond because not every game is going to be like this one."
