Alli assists England in draw

9 September 2014

Dele Alli capped his England Under-19s with an assist on Monday evening, as he helped the Young Lions earn a 1-1 draw with Germany.

The 18-year-old, who started the game in central midfield, was at the heart of most of England’s good play during his time on the pitch, and he was crucial in the build-up to John Peackock’s side’s opening goal.

After dispossessing Borussia Monchengladbach’s Mahmoud Dahoud in the middle of the park 35 minutes in, Alli fed through striker Bradley Fewster and he made no mistake with his finish to put England ahead.

The Dons midfielder, later, went close to scoring his first international goal but his 15-yard effort was saved by Germany’s Marius Funk. Alli was then replaced by Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Winks on 69 minutes.

Alli will return to England today before joining back up with the Dons ahead of the trip to Barnsley this weekend.
