Reeves full of pride after NI debut

17 October 2014

Ben Reeves became only the second player to make their senior international debut while playing for the Dons, when he featured in Northern Ireland’s victory over Greece.

The midfielder was introduced as a 78th minute substitute in the Euro 2016 qualifier on Wednesday, helping the Green and White Army see out a 2-0 win - a result which lifted them to the top of Group F.

“It was brilliant to make my debut,” Reeves told MK Dons Player. “Coming on and finally making my debut was the best bit about the trip for me. Now I can just look forward and hopefully play a bigger part in future games.

“It was great to get two good results during the time we were away. To get a result like that (against Greece) is unbelievable because most people probably weren’t expecting it.

“We’ve just got to build on it and hopefully we can do that. Everyone’s looking forward to the next game away in Romania, where we need to keep the run going and not rest on our laurels.”

Having arrived back at stadiummk, Reeves’ attention now turns to Saturday’s clash away at Leyton Orient, where the Dons will be looking to make it back-to-back away league victories.

The O’s have endured a difficult start to the season, but Reeves is still expecting a difficult afternoon against the side which finished third in Sky Bet League 1 in 2013/14.

He added: “They are a difficult team to beat. They’ve got some good players there and although they’ve got a few injuries, the team they can still put out is one of the best in the league.

“Playing away at Leyton Orient is a difficult task no matter what, so it will be a tough game and we’ll need to put in a good performance.

He continued: “Everyone’s looking forward to it, though. It would be nice to get a good run going now, after the international break, and hopefully we can do that straight away and climb up the table again.”

Tickets for the clash with Leyton Orient will be available to buy from the Box Office until 5pm on Friday. Tickets will be on sale at Matchroom Stadium but will be subject to a price increase.
