Hitchcock heads to Fleetwood

31 October 2014

Striker Tom Hitchcock has joined Fleetwood Town on emergency loan.

Hitchcock this morning put pen to paper on the deal with the fellow League 1 side, which runs up to and including 28th December.

The 22-year-old will be available to make his debut for the Cod Army this weekend in their game against Gillingham, and will return to stadiummk after the Lancashire outfit’s trip to Rochdale.

Speaking to mkdons.com, manager Karl Robinson said: “Tom’s attitude on the training field has been second to none but chances have been limited so far for him this season due to the form of Benik (Afobe) and Will (Grigg). He needs to play games and this move will allow him to do so.

“By joining Fleetwood, Tom will get minutes under his belt and hopefully score some goals. We want him to be match ready for when he is required.”

Hitchcock has been granted permission to play in The FA Cup and the deal includes a 24-hour recall clause after 28 days.
