Karl Robinson believes his players did enough to take all three points from their clash with Rochdale on Tuesday evening.
“I’m pleased with the performance and I thought the players did enough to win the game,” Robinson told MK Dons Player. “When we’ve had six or seven gilt-edged chances from inside the box and they’ve whistled one in from 30-yards, it’s a bitter pill to swallow.
“We looked a bit tentative today and the first half wasn’t good enough. We lacked fluidity at certain stages of the game but the most important thing is that we haven’t lost. Some teams would have crumbled at 2-1 but we didn’t.
“I think we would have lost that last season but the endeavour, grit and determination of the players got us a point.
“We’re frustrated not to win, obviously, but I’m a lot more positive than what I was with six minutes to go.”
The result sees the Dons close the gap on second-placed Swindon Town to just four points with still two games in hand on the Wiltshire outfit, much to the delighted of boss Robinson.
“It was one of our games in hand so it gets us a point closer. If we keep picking points up in these games in hand and we keep picking up points when we go toe-to-toe with the teams around us, then we’ll be competing.”
