Striker Tom Hitchcock scored three minutes into his debut for Fleetwood Town on Saturday afternoon.
Hitchcock, who signed a short-term loan deal with the Lancashire outfit Friday, played the full 90 minutes for Graham Alexander’s side and came close to adding to his tally on a number of occasions.
Speaking to Cod Army Player, Hitchcock said: “It was good to play 90 minutes again and get a goal which will really help with my confidence. I want to play games and score goals and help Fleetwood get up the table.
“Three points is the main thing though as it keeps getting us up the table. It’s a big win as I thought Gillingham played well.”
Hitchcock, who will remain at Highbury until 28th December, has been granted permission to play for Fleetwood in The FA Cup this weekend – the Cod Army travel to Sky Bet League 2 side Cambridge United on Saturday.
