Danny targets seven points

27 November 2014

A victory this weekend against Colchester United would see the Dons finish their three-game home stretch with seven points – a good return according to winger Danny Green.

The 26-year-old, who has featured in each of the last three games after returning from a lengthy spell on the sidelines, scored the equaliser in Tuesday’s draw with Rochdale but hopes the team can go a step better against the U’s on Saturday and take maximum points.

“If we can have taken seven points from these three home games then that’ll be massive for us and it will put us in good stead,” Green told MK Dons Player after the clash with Dale.

“Nine points from three home games would have been ideal but seven points will be great as well. As long as we don’t lose at home on Saturday, we’ll be fine.”

Green’s 83rd minute strike on Tuesday ensured the Dons maintained their run of not losing from a winning position this season, after they found themselves 2-1 down with seven to play despite opening the scoring through Will Grigg.

The draw also saw Karl Robinson’s men move to within four points of second-placed Swindon Town, with still two games in hand on the Wiltshire outfit, and therefore Green believes it was a result that may turn out to be crucial later in the season.

“I think it’s a point gained. It was quite a tough game and Rochdale are a very good team and they’ve got some really good players. They’ve taken points off big clubs and they’d look and probably say they are a big club as well.

“I don’t think the boys will be too disheartened. I’d say it was a point gained and I think at the end of the season it will be a good point. We’ll take the positives out of the game.”
