Robbo talks transfers

Karl Robinson says things are ‘extremely busy’ at stadiummk as he looks to strengthen his Dons squad.

“With the players we are going to have back fit for next season, I am probably aiming for five or six new recruits. Everyone knows my passion and my dream is to take this Football Club to the next level and it’s important we work hard over the summer to bring in as many quality players as possible.

“The last week has been productive in dealing with the consequences of what’s gone on before us but now we need to look forward. Hopefully we can rebuild.

“Now most of the players have gone for the summer, we’ve assessed where we are,” Robinson told mkdons.com.

The 33-year-old is working around the clock to improve his group of players ahead of the 2014/15 season, while also keeping a close eye on those returning from injury - Ben Reeves, Darren Potter and Lee Hodson.
“I’ve got plenty of irons in the fire, but that’s the nature of the industry. There are a number of people we are speaking to and we’ve met a couple of players too. People think that when you’ve met one or two players, one or two deals have been done but that’s not the case.

“Once we’ve met the players, we then have to sit down and speak to their agents, as well as dealing with so many other aspects which need to be sorted to complete a deal. They could take two weeks or two months, but it’s been extremely busy.

He concluded: “It was more important for me to go through the season with a fine toothcomb, assess where the injured players are at, take stock and then start developing what we want to do for the future of this Football Club.”
