Loveridge: Can't wait to get started

19 March 2014

New loanee James Loveridge is relishing the chance to make an impression in his first spell away from parent club Swansea City.

Loveridge joined MK Dons on a one-month loan on Tuesday and is expected to go straight into the matchday squad for the trip to Stevenage this Saturday, subject to the Dons receiving Premier League and international clearance in time.

Should Loveridge receive clearance and make an appearance at Lamex Stadium, it will be the 19-year-old's first taste of senior football and when speaking to mkdons.com he admitted that he can't wait to get started.

The Welshman said: “It’s my first loan move away from Swansea and I’m looking forward to it. "It’ll be a test for me and I’m excited to see how I handle it.

“The last three or four months have gone really well in the Under-21s but this is a step up for me in my career and I’ve got to take it and push on.

“It’s a chance for me to make a name for myself. Hopefully I can do well and get some goals which would not only help the team here but also help me back at Swansea.

“I’ve been told MK Dons like to get the ball down and pass they way we do at Swansea so I’m looking forward to that too.

“Hopefully I can get some goals for the team and help them win some games. I’ve got good pace, I like to get in behind and I love scoring goals.”

Loveridge is now the fourth loanee player in Karl Robinson’s squad along with Jordan Spence, Sanmi Odelusi and Larnell Cole and the Llanelli-based forward is hoping to seek advice from the trio as he looks to settle in Milton Keynes as soon as possible.

“It’s nice because there are some other youngsters on loan” Loveridge added. “They are and have been in the same position as I am. They’ve all be very welcoming and hopefully I can make an impact with them on the pitch.”
