Ian's shutout aids Exiles' success

Goalkeeper Ian McLoughlin kept a clean-sheet and helped Newport County to their first win in nine on Sunday afternoon.

McLoughlin made a number of important saves, including one right at the death, as Justin Edinburgh’s side climbed to within seven points of the Sky Bet League 2 table with the 1-0 victory at Plainmoor.

Striker Chris Zebroski grabbed the Exiles’ solitary goal in the ninth minute before the Gulls were reduced to ten men following an apparent elbow by Shamir Goodwin.

The U’s lifted the trophy for the first time in their history on Sunday afternoon thanks to goals from Ryan Bird, Luke Berry and a second-half brace from Ryan Donaldson.

Chadwick was ineligible to feature.
