Chadwick joins Cambridge on loan

18 March 2014

MK Dons have today paved the way for midfielder Luke Chadwick to join his boyhood club, Cambridge United, on loan until the end of the season.

Chadwick, who has been limited to just 14 starts this season, will join the U’s until the end of Skrill Premier campaign and aid their push to win promotion to the Football League.
He will be eligible to play in their home clash with Welling this evening.

Speaking to mkdons.com, Dons boss Robinson said: “Me and Chaddy had a long discussion about his future.

“He doesn’t want to let the Chairman, the fans or me down but he said that while he’s still got the legs he wants to fulfil his dream, which is to play for Cambridge United. It’s a decision we’ve come to with him and his family.

“He can go there and help their promotion campaign and if he can get his boyhood club into the Football League via Wembley, I know it would be a dream come true for him and I can’t stand in the way.

“He didn’t want to walk away while we were short on numbers so he’s stayed for the last two or three weeks and helped me out.
“But, we’ve got (Ben) Reeves back now, Dele (Alli), Stephen (Gleeson) and Bowds (Dean Bowditch) can play there and we saw on Saturday that Giorgio (Rasulo) can too. They are the future of the Football Club and Luke didn’t want to stand in the way of that.”
