“I’m just happy to be playing and hopefully I can keep my place.”
He said: “I’ve always wanted to play in central-midfield and I look up to the likes of (Steven) Gerrard, but when you’ve got people like (Stephen) Gleeson and (Darren) Potter you know it’s going to be hard competition.
The starlet has excelled in the middle of the park in recent weeks and he believes that’s where he’s most effective.
“It was a disappointing result but we felt we could have got more out of the game. We always give 100% and we’ll do our best to try and get the win.”
He said: “The gaffer’s said to us it’s like a cup final. We need to win the game, especially after last week against Sheffield United.
Although Alli was delighted to take his caps at England youth level into double figures, he stressed that he is now solely focused on helping his club achieve a win in Wiltshire against the Robins, who sit just one point above the Dons in seventh.
“It was nice to get another two caps and hopefully I can push on from here.”
