Bradford tie-up Knott deal
Bradford City have signed young midfielder Billy Knott on a free transfer from Sunderland

The 21-year-old, who played in League 1 with Port Vale last season, has agreed a two-year deal at Vale Park with the option of a further year.

Carl and Colin commit to Vale
Port Vale have signed the versatile Colin Daniel and agreed a new two-year deal with defender Carl Dickinson.

Daniel has agreed a two-year contract after being released by Mansfield Town while Dickinson becomes the club’s first out-of-contract player to put pen-to-paper on fresh terms, committing himself until the summer of 2016.

Davies signs new deal
Preston North End defender Ben Davies has signed a two-year contract extension at Deepdale.

The 18-year-old’s new deal will keep him with the Lancashire outfit until the summer of 2016 and includes an option for a further 12 months.

Quintet extend Scunthorpe stay
Niall Canvan, Deon Burton, Gary McSheffrey, James Severn and Eddie Nolan have all agreed new deals with Scunthorpe United.

Canvan has signed a new two-year extension to his current deal while Nolan has signed on for a further 12 months. The other three players will formalise their extensions once they return from their holidays.

The newly-promoted side have also said in a statement it will continue discussions with Andy Dawson about his player/coach role when he returns from his UEFA A Licence coaching course.

Purkiss pens new deal
Walsall defender Ben Purkiss has signed a new one-year deal with Walsall.

The 30-year-old full-back arrived at Banks’s Stadium from Hereford United two years ago and has since gone on to make more than 40 appearances for the Saddlers.

Andy appointed Gills assistant
Gillingham have appointed Andy Hessenthaler as their new assistant manager, the Kent club confirmed last week.

Hessenthaler, who spent last season scouting for Burnley, re-joins the side he made over 300 appearances for as a player.

Orient re-sign duo, release five
Leyton Orient secured the services of midfielders Lloyd James (pictured) and Gary Sawyer last week.

James has signed put pen-to-paper on a new two-year deal at Brisbane Road while Sawyer has agreed to extend his stay at Brisbane Road for a further 12 months.

The O’s, however, did wave goodbye to Jake Larkins, De’Reece Vanderhyde, Johnny Gorman, Yohann Lasimant and Robbie Simpson following the expiry of their contracts on Friday.

Cod Army complete Andrew signing
Fleetwood Town made defender Danny Andrew their first signing since clinching promotion to League 1 last Wednesday.

The 23-year-old left-back joins Graham Alexander’s side from Macclesfield Town for an undisclosed fee having been ever present in the Silkmen’s 51 games last season.

Done deal for Matty
Rochdale midfielder Matty Done has signed a two-year contract extension with the Spotland outfit.

The 25-year-old, who made 44 appearances in all competitions for Keith Hill’s side last season, was out of contract this summer but has now extended his stay until June 2016.
