Orient lose keeper to Lilywhites
Leyton Orient goalkeeper Jamie Jones (pictured) has agreed to join their Sky Bet League 1 rivals Preston North End next season.

The 25-year-old turned down an offer to extend his six-year stay with the O’s to sign a two-year deal at Deepdale, effective from 1st July.

North End have also signed versatile defender Calum Woods on a free transfer following his release from Huddersfield Town.

Clubs look to the future
The annual Football League Owners’ and Executives Conference  took place in Portugal last week, with a range of issues discussed relating to their competition and ongoing contribution to football.

FA Greg Dyke’s recent commission on the future of the England team was one of a number of topics raised along with the lack of high quality artificial playing surfaces and regulations applying to club takeovers.

At the conference, the Football League also announced the appointment of former professional tennis player Debbie Jevans to the position of independent non-executive director.

Chris trio commit to Vale cause
Chris Lines, Chris Birchall and Chris Neal have all signed new contracts with Port Vale.

Lines, a former Dons loanee, and goalkeeper Neal have put pen-to-paper on two-year deals while Birchall, a midfielder, has signed a one-year extension.

Jon joins Posh
Peterborough United have signed Shrewsbury Town winger Jon Taylor for an undisclosed fee and re-signed defender Gabriel Zakuani.

Taylor had a year remaining on his contract with the Shrews but has opted for a move to London Road, where he has penned a three-year deal while Zakuani returns to the club after a year in Greece.

Also, manager Darren Ferguson committed his future to the Cambridgeshire outfit by signing a new three-year deal.

Defender Mark Little, however, looks set to leave the club after turning down a new contract offer.

County complete double signing
Notts County have signed midfielder Liam Noble and defender Hayden Mullins.

Noble, formerly of Carlisle United has signed a two-year deal while Mullins, who impressed on loan with the Magpies last season, joins on a 12-month contract. 

Blades bring in Butler and Basham
Sheffield United have completed the double signing of Andy Butler and Chris Basham.

The defensive duo will become Nigel Clough’s third and fourth summer signings when they arrive on July 1st from Walsall and Blackpool respectively.

Crawley capture duo
Crawley Town have strengthened their defensive options with the signings of Ryan Dickson and Lanre Oyebanjo.

Left-back Dickson spent last season with Colchester United and made 35 appearances for the Reds’ Sky Bet League 1 rivals while Oyebanjo, a right-back, played over 100 times during a three-year spell with York City.

Latics lure Mills to Boundary Park
Oldham Athletic have signed defender Joseph Mills on a two-year deal following a successful loan spell.

Martin, who made 15 appearances for the Latics while on loan from Burnley last season, becomes manager Lee Johnson’s first summer signing.

Meanwhile, goalkeeper Paul Rachubka has committed his future to Oldham by signing a one-year contract extension.

Martin makes Glovers switch
Former Birmingham City defender will join newly-relegated Yeovil Town when his contract expires on July 1st.

Martin, who made just eight appearances for the Blues last season, has signed a two-year deal at Huish Park.

Gary inks Iron deal
Winger Gary McSheffrey has penned a new one-year deal with Sky Bet League 1 new-boys Scunthorpe United.

The former Coventry City man made 13 appearances for the Iron last season after initially impressing during a trial spell.

McGlashan moves to Gillingham
Gillingham have signed former Cheltenham Town winger Jermaine McGlashan to a two-year deal.

The 26-year-old was available for free transfer after rejecting a new deal at Abbey Business Stadium at the end of last season.
