stadiummk to Bilbao

23 June 2014

Earlier this month, 11 riders from the MK Dons SET Cycle Club took part in an epic 1000-mile ride from stadiummk to Bilbao.

The challenge saw the cyclists - Nathan Thomas, Mike Verwoert, Graham Cuthbert, Gozde Twitchett , Stuart Austin, Steve Cutler, Lee Sharples, Sean Fitzgerald, Andy Heath, Brian Mayo and MK Dons SET Director of Football and Community Darren Oldroyd - ride the whole length of France before crossing the border into Spain to reach Bilbao.

During their ride, which took 8 gruelling days to complete, the group battled against a variety of weather conditions, including thunder and soaring temperatures, the latter of which forced the riders to consumed 100 litres of water in one day!

The journey was full of ups and downs – literally, at times, with all the hills – but it was all worth it for the 11 riders, whose money raised will continue to support disability football at MK Dons Sport and Education Trust as well as The Henry Allen Trust.

The SET Cycle Club would like to say big thank you to the day sponsors, whose donations and support helped make the trek possible and the kit sponsors.
