“If the season began tomorrow we would have a team that could start and we’ve still got five weeks to go.”

“We’ve been very professional in the way we’ve conducted themselves - we’re not in the same ball park as some of the teams out there. There’s a willingness to be successful amongst us all; there’s an appetite to right the wrongs of last season.

He said: “There’s one or two more deals we would liked to have done but we are looking at other options, other avenues.

Robinson admits he has missed out on a couple of targets, but stressed he is pleased with the additions he has made on top of Hitchcock – Danny Green, Kyle McFadzean and Mark Randall.

“Overall, I would like to sign two strikers and then a loan or even a third permanent.”

He added: “There’s an awful lot still to be done. We’ve spoken to five or six strikers and we’ll just have to wait and see.

“I want these different types of strikers which will allow us to go and win all different types of football matches.”

“I want to bring in a big one and I want to bring in a really quick one so I’ve got three different types, which we can then opt and change,” he told MK Dons Player.

The 33-year-old has already acquired the services of the in-demand Tom Hitchcock, but now he is targeting competition for the former QPR frontman.
