Ref Watch: Bristol City

16 January 2014

David Phillips will take charge of MK Dons’ Sky Bet League 1 clash with Bristol City at Ashton Gate this weekend.

Phillips has been a Football League official for five years having made his League debut at the beginning of the 2008/09 season.

During his time as a referee, Phillips has refereed eight games involving the Dons, with three of those fixtures coming last year. The West Sussex official showed a total of 23 yellow cards in those games while also brandishing three cards, two of which were given to Dons players.

Back in December 2010, Phillips gave former Dons striker Aaron Wilbraham his marching orders away at Notts County in December 2010 before he then dismissed Dean Lewington at Swindon Town at the beginning of last season.

The red card to Lewington was one of eight Phillips in the 2012/13 season. Phillips also booked 116 players in his 33 games as a referee last year.

This season, Phillips has refereed 15 games, showed 50 yellow cards and sent off six players.

The full list of officials for Saturday’s game is as follows:
Referee: David Phillips (West Sussex)
Assistant Referees: Paul Hobday (West Midlands) and Mark Howes (Birmingham)
Fourth Official: Graham Scott (South Yorkshire)
