Karl: Must change mid-week away form

28 January 2014

Manager Karl Robinson insists his MK Dons side are eager to improve their mid-week away form starting with a win, tonight, at Carlisle United.

, with the most recent of those victories coming last season at Colchester United’s Weston Homes Community Stadium.mkstadiumThe Dons have won just three of their last 22 League games away from

Robinson, therefore, is keen to make an improvement and insists he and the coaching staff are searching for a formula which can prove successful. He told BBC Three Counties Radio ahead of today’s game: “I’ve changed the plans because I’ve looked at our away form on a Tuesday night and it’s appalling.

“We’ve only had three wins in 22 away League games on a Tuesday night and we worked out that if we could have taken a point from every one of those then we’d have had earned automatic promotion in most years.

“The one year we won all of our Tuesday night away games (2007/08) we stayed overnight before every game and we travelled much better because we put more emphasis into that.

“We’ve done things a little differently this time. We came in (on Sunday) to train and we left at 9 (yesterday) morning so we could train up at Slaley Hall near Newcastle. We’re then training again on Tuesday morning.

“There are little details that we can use to get more points and although this is a one-off at the moment because it costs us a bit more money, we are using it to try and see whether it works. We’ll see.”

Tickets for this game will be on sale until 12noon today and then after this time they’ll only be available to buy from Brunton Park. Tickets are no longer available from the kiosk at thecentre:mk.
