MK Dons have today (Wednesday) extended the youth loan of Aston Villa’s Samir Carruthers until 3rd April.
The Villa midfielder’s initial deal expired after Saturday’s FA Cup with Budweiser draw with Wigan Athletic but, after penning the extension earlier today, he will now remain with the Club until his 21st birthday.
Carruthers, 20, joined the Dons on a six-month loan in August 2013 and endured a disruptive start to life at stadiummk but the Republic of Ireland youth international has since gone on to feature in each of the Dons’ last eight games in all competitions, helping the side to four wins and two draws during that time.
Speaking to mkdons.com, his manager Karl Robinson said: “I’m delighted to have been able to extend Samir’s loan until April. Samir has really stepped up to the plate in the last month or so and I’d say he was one of our best players during the Christmas period.
“He’s exactly the type of character and player I want at this Football Club and I’d like to thank Paul Lambert and Aston Villa for allowing Samir to continue his development with us here at stadiummk.”
The Club can also confirm defender Jordan Spence has returned to West Ham United following the completion of his loan spell.
Spence made 12 appearances for the Dons during his time at MK1, helping the side keep six clean sheets over Christmas.
MK Dons would like to thank Jordan for his contributions and wish him all the best for the future.
