MK Dons will hold a minute’s applause prior to this afternoon’s kick-off in memory of Sir Tom Finney, who passed away yesterday at the age of 91.
Sir Tom, one of England’s all-time greatest players, represented his country 76 times as an outside-right, outside-left and centre-forward. He netted 30 goals for the Three Lions and played in three World Cups.
At Club level, Sir Tom enjoyed a 20-year career with Preston North End which included 569 first-class matches. Preston’s favourite son joined the Lilywhites as an amateur in 1937 and was twice named ‘Footballer of the Year’.
MK Dons were, of course, privileged to be a part of Sir Tom’s 90th birthday celebrations at Deepdale two seasons ago.
On behalf of everyone at the Football Club, we would like to pass on our sincere condolences to Sir Tom Finney’s family and friends, as well as our Sky Bet League 1 rivals Preston North End.
