Karl: Players are feeling fresher

10 December 2014

Karl Robinson hopes his side's short break from action will benefit them heading into Saturday's clash with Preston North End.

The Dons played their fifth game in the space of two weeks last Saturday against Chesterfield, a stretch during which Robinson was only able to use 17 different players due to injuries and suspensions.

“Chesterfield looked like they had more energy in our game which is a consequence of the effort we’ve been putting in this season," Robinson told the media. "We feel this break has given us the chance to completely freshen up.

He continued: “We know we will have to roll our sleeves up against Preston, but we certainly feel that we can go there and compete. It should be an amazing game with two good teams.

“Preston fans are always so passionate and they get behind their team. We know how difficult it’s going to be but we’ve seen how much effort the lads have put in during games this season.”

A victory in Lancashire on Saturday and favourable results elsewhere could see the Dons move to the top of the League 1 table, but Robinson insists he, his staff and his players are remaining level headed.

“At the start of the season people predicted we would be finishing in the bottom half of the table," he added. "We have turned that around and now people are predicting we can win the league.

“I’ll admit that I’m excited, more excited than I have been in a long time, but we’ve got to keep our feet on the ground.”

Tickets for Saturday's trip to Preston North End are priced from £21 for adults, £15 for under-18s, £8 for under-16s and FREE for under-18s.
