Hickford makes Boreham Wood bow

1 December 2014

Defender Harry Hickford made his full debut for Boreham Wood on Saturday but couldn’t prevent them bowing out of the FA Trophy.

Hickford, who made his first appearance for the Wood as an 80th minute substitute in the 4-0 victory over Weston-Super-Mare last Monday evening, was one of five changes made by Ian Allinson for the FA Trophy tie against Concord Rangers.

The Hertfordshire side drew 1-1 with the Rangers in their league meeting earlier in the season, but were unable to recover from an early setback in Saturday’s clash and eventually fell to a 4-0 loss.

Elsewhere, Tom Hitchcock made his fifth appearance for Fleetwood Town in their Sky Bet League 1 fixture with Swindon Town.

The striker, starting for the fourth straight game, headed wide in the closing stages of the first half before being replaced by Tyler Horny-Forbes in the 74th minute.

The Cod Army would go on to lose 1-0 courtesy of a late goal Ben Gladwin goal, a result which saw them slip to 11th in the table.

Finally, goalkeeper Charlie Burns played his third consecutive game for loan side Truro City in their FA Trophy tie with Hemel Hempstead Town.

Burns, who kept two clean sheets in his first two appearances, played well once again but was unable to stop the White Tigers suffering a 2-1 defeat.

Second-year scholar Gedeon Okito, who joined Truro on work experience, is now back with the Dons after making one appearance.
