The Dons fell to their first defeat in over three months on Sunday against Walsall, but winger Danny Green says it’s important the team doesn’t get too despondent.
Despite the loss, the Dons saw the New Year in, in fourth-place in Sky Bet League 1, three points adrift of second with a game in hand – reason enough, according to Green, for the group to remain confident.
“It was a very disappointing afternoon and after being on such a great run, to lose is very disappointing but we’re going to look to bounce in the next game,” the 26-year-old told MK Dons Player after the match.
“We’re not going to get too down about it because we’ve done really well recently. In the dressing room, the Gaffer just said that we’ve been brilliant and reminded us of some of the results we’ve had here.
“This was just an off day and that happens in football. We’ve just got to put it behind us and move on as quickly as possible.”
In Walsall, the Dons came up against a side which have conceded the joint-second fewest in the division so far this season and Green gave them credit for their solid showing at stadiummk.
“(Walsall) keep it really tight at the back and they kept us very narrow too. They didn’t really let us get wide either, which meant the wide boys couldn’t do their thing on the ball. It was a frustrating game for us and they took their goals well, in all fairness.”
Tickets for the Dons' replayed FA Cup second-round tie with Chesterfield are on sale from the Box Office, priced at just £6 for adults and £1 for under-18s.
