George getting fitter

10 December 2014

George Baldock is well on the way to full match fitness after 10 weeks on the sidelines and now the right back can’t wait to help the Dons continue their climb up the league table.

Baldock came off the bench in last Saturday’s FA Cup tie with Chesterfield before playing the entirety of the Development League Cup clash away at Brighton & Hove Albion on Tuesday – his first 90 minutes of competitive football since 23rd September. It was nice to hear the fans sing my name again. “I was ahead of schedule with my ankle but then had that setback with my thigh soBaldock told MK Dons Player,” it was really nice to be back out there with the shirt on “I think it’s a lot more important that we beat Preston on Saturday and I think everyone would forget (the Chesterfield defeat) if we did win there.”

“It was just one of those days but Richie mentioned to us that last time we went out of a cup, we went on a great run.

“(The Chesterfield game) was very disappointing because we’ve set our standards extremely high this year and we wanted to progress in the competition,” he added.

A win for the men from MK1 on Saturday could see them climb to the top of the table, should results go their way elsewhere, and Baldock says that would be the perfect response to their disappointing loss to Chesterfield.

The 21-year-old will hope to be involved this weekend, as Dons take on Preston North End in a third versus fourth Sky Bet League 1 clash at Deepdale.
