Dele Alli is eager to get his second season as a professional underway this weekend at home to Gillingham.
Alli, therefore, is placing higher expecations on his shoulders this season, as he looks to maintain a starting berth in Karl Robinson's side.
He told reddot: “I completely out did what I had hoped and therefore I have high expectations of myself coming into this year. You’re always fighting for your place so I’ve never had a chance to think ‘I’m a first-team player’, and each game you’re just doing as well as you can to get into the next team.
“I just want to be a key part of this side and continue performing the best I possibly can for the team, each game. I’m still very young and have a lot to learn but I’m just going to the best that I can and then it’s up to the gaffer to pick who he wants to pick.”
