Director of Youth Mike Dove felt his side thoroughly deserved their 5-1 victory over Northampton Town on Saturday morning.
Dove’s young Dons ran-out comfortable winners over their near-neighbours courtesy of a hat-trick from Kabongo Tshimanga and goals from Ben Tilney and Laurence Vaughan.
The result saw the side bounce back from their opening day defeat to Luton Town and record their first points of the 2014/15 season.
After the game, Dove said: “We deserved the win and the goals were very well taken. It was disappointing that we conceded a goal because there was probably a foul in the build-up but overall we were very good today.
“We have been working on the mental side of the game since last week. Dave Oldfield, who we brought in over the summer really helped with that and improving our set-pieces and the organisational side of the game.”
Next up for the Under-18s is a trip to Peterborough United next Saturday morning.
