Stuart Attwell has been appointed referee for this weekend’s match between MK Dons and Swindon Town.
Attwell, 30, became the youngest person to referee in the Premier League when he took charge of Blackburn Rovers versus Hull City in August 2008. Attwell spent two full seasons in English football’s top flight as a Select Referee before being demoted back to the Football League in 2012.
During his time as an official, Attwell has overseen five games involving the Dons, brandishing 16 yellow cards and two red cards. The most recent sending off came in the Capital One Cup tie with Sunderland last season, where the Warwickshire-based official dismissed Black Cats midfielder Lee Cattermole following a wreck-less tackle on then-Dons defender Adam Chicksen.
Last season, Attwell refereed 44 games and booked a total of 129 players. Attwell only showed his red card on three occasions in 2012/13, including the dismissal of Cattermole at stadiummk.
Attwell has already officiated five games this campaign, his most recent appointed coming last weekend for the lunchtime meeting between Leeds United and Queens Park Rangers. Attwell has shown 12 yellow cards this season but has yet to produce a red.
