Graham Horwood will take charge of MK Dons’ 500th game tomorrow night.
Tuesday’s Johnstone’s Paint Trophy Round 1 tie with Northampton Town will only be the second time Horwood has officiated a Dons game, since he joined the Football League in 2007.
Horwood, who took a two-year break from refereeing in the Football League recently, was the man in the middle for the Dons 2-1 victory over Leyton Orient back in 2009. That night, the Bedfordshire referee showed four yellow cards, all to Dons players.
Last season, Horwood marshalled 24 Blue Square Premier games, booking 84 players in total. Despite his high yellow card total Horwood only sent off one player in 2012/13 – Southport goalkeeper Tony McMillan.
This campaign, Horwood has only umpired three League Two fixtures with his most recent appointment being the clash between Scunthorpe United and Newport County this past Saturday. Horwood has shown 14 yellow cards this year but no red cards.
