Ladies 1 Chelsea 2

9 September 2013

Without a League fixture last week, MK Dons Ladies hosted Women’s Super League side Chelsea in a prestigious friendly.

The game finished 2-1 to the visiting side courtesy of two second half goals but John Dyer’s side had plenty to be optimistic about as they more than dealt with their higher division opponents for the majority of the match.

Dyer was fortunate to have most his Ladies available for selection heading into the game and his team did well to cancel out Chelsea in a first half which ended goalless.

In fact, it was only from two unfortunate mistakes at the back that the visitors, who had three England internationals in their side, went ahead in the second half.

The talented Lil Stanton (pictured) did pull a goal back for the Dons late-on with a fine lob from 30-yards out to add a little gloss to what was a brave performance from the Ladies - a performance which will no doubt boost their confidence heading into tomorrow’s South East Combination League meeting with Cambridge Women.
