Tickets.com partners with Badminton

9 October 2013

The annual event comes to the home of badminton, Milton Keynes, on 8-9 February 2014 with tickets now on sale at www.tickets.com and www.nationalbadmintonchamps.co.uk.

Tickets.com, the industry leading provider of global ticketing and marketing solutions, has been confirmed as the official ticketing supplier for the English National Badminton Championships 2014.

The competition will take place at the arena: stadiummk - home of Football League One side and longstanding Tickets.com client MK Dons - on 8-9 February 2014. The new venue marks a first for the annual Championships as it makes its debut in the home city for the sport, and home to BADMINTON England, since the tournament was first held 50 years ago.

The event will use ProVenueMax, stadiummk's existing Tickets.com system, for all online and box office transactions. A fully customised white label ticketing solution, ProVenueMax will also process transactions via the tournament’s website, www.nationalbadmintonchamps.co.uk. The system will be integrated with the venue’s access control solution, SKIDATA, and also facilitate the purchase of parking tickets online.

Not only the home of BADMINTON England - the national governing body of the sport in England - Milton Keynes is also home to the UK headquarters of Tickets.com, who have partnered with stadiummk  since it opened in 2007.

“We are very proud of our long lasting relationship with the Tickets.com team and cannot speak highly enough of the support and service they provide,” confirmed Gayle Sharpe, customer services manager at MK Dons/stadiummk.

“Knowing that we had a reliable, robust and flexible ticketing system in place was vital in the venue securing the National Badminton Championships and we know that, through our partnership with Tickets.com, we will deliver a fantastic event.”

Tickets.com managing director and executive vice president, international, Derek Palmer, said: “We are delighted to have the opportunity with the venue to extend our services wider within sport. The arena is a fantastic facility and a great choice for the tournament and we are proud to be a part of an event that helps to further Milton Keynes’ position on the sporting map.”

The annual Championships showcase the best badminton talent in England and fans can witness in action London 2012 Olympian and Commonwealth silver medalist, Rajiv Ouseph, who will be bidding for his seventh consecutive National singles title next year.

Nicola Moloney, head of major events and competitions, BADMINTON England said: “Over four million people play badminton regularly and the sport has a growing fan base. We want to give more people the opportunity to enjoy the excitement of a live badminton event. Our partnership with Tickets.com will help us to do this. It is great for our sport and for the city of Milton Keynes that the English National Badminton Championships is coming home.”

Tickets for the two day event start at just £10 and are available to buy online via www.tickets.com, Tickets.com’s B2C site that was re-launched earlier this year, and via www.nationalbadmintonchamps.co.uk.
