Ref Watch: Rotherham United

16 October 2013

Robert Madley will take charge of this weekend’s Sky Bet League 1 clash between MK Dons and Rotherham United at stadiummk.

Madley, 27, has been officiating in the Football League since 2010 and became one of the youngest referees to be promoted to the Select Group in 2013.

The Wakefield-based official has only ever refereed the Dons once in his career, with that game coming last season away to Coventry City. Karl Robinson’s side drew 1-1 that evening and had one player, Jon Otsemobor, booked.

So far this season, Madley has taken charge of six games – one of which came in the Premier League. Madley’s solitary top flight fixture was the 1-1 draw between Hull City and Cardiff City last month, although he did officiate Arsenal’s Capital One Cup victory over West Brom. Madley has shown 24 yellow cards and two red cards this year, so far.

Madley’s last appointment was back in September for the Sky Bet League 2 meeting between Chesterfield and Mansfield, where the latter came out on top 1-0. Madley brandished five yellow cards and sent off Spireites winger Gary Roberts late-on for an apparent stamp.

The full list of officials for Saturday is as follows:
Referee: Robert Madley (West Yorkshire)
Assistant Referees: Richard West (East Yorkshire) and John Flynn (Wiltshire)
Fourth Official: Lee Collins (Surrey)
