James Linington will take charge of MK Dons’ Sky Bet League 1 clash away at Gillingham this weekend.
Linington has been refereeing in the Football League since 2008 and in only his second season, he was trusted to oversee the League Two Play-Off final between Dagenham & Redbridge and Rotherham United at Wembley Stadium.
During his five years of service, Linington has officiated the Dons six times, showing 20 yellow cards and one red in them matches. The solitary sending off came in the Karl Robinson’s side’s 1-0 victory over Swindon Town in 2011 when Andy Frampton was dismissed after two bookable offences.
Linington’s most recent Dons appointment came last season, when he took charge of the 1-0 defeat to Scunthorpe at stadiummk. The Isle of Wight-born referee booked one player that day – Dons defender Shaun Williams.
So far in 2013/14, Linington has refereed seven games, showed 24 yellow cards and sent off two players. Linington’s last match was this past weekend’s meeting between Bradford City and Shrewsbury Town where he booked four players and gave Shrews defender Dave Winfield his marching orders.
