Ref Watch: Carlisle United

21 October 2013

Andy D’Urso will take charge of MK Dons’ Sky Bet League 1 clash with Carlisle United tomorrow night.

The Billericay-based official has been refereeing in the Football League since 1994 and was promoted into the Select Group ten years later.  In 2001, D’Urso was also nominated for FIFA status, taking charge of his first full international in 2004.

D’Urso, no longer a Select Group referee having been demoted in 2006, has refereed 12 Dons games during his career, booking a total of 40 players and sending off two. Both the red cards were shown to Dons players; Dean Lewington away at Swindon Town in March 2009 and Jason Puncheon in the 1-0 defeat to Leeds United at stadiummk the following season.

Notable Dons games which D’Urso has officiated in, include the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy Area Final Second Leg tie with Swansea City in 2008 and the memorable five-goal thriller at home to Carlisle United back in 2012.

So far this season, D’Urso has booked 35 players and sent off two in 10 appointments. Both of the dismalls, shown to Charlton Athletic’s Bradley Pritchard and, more recently, Wycombe Wanderers’ Charles Dunne, were straight red cards.

D’Urso’s most recent fixture was this weekend’s Championship clash between Reading and Doncaster Rovers at Madjeski Stadium, where he booked just two players.

The full list of officials for Tuesday night is as follows:
Referee: Andy D’Urso (Essex)
Assistant Referees: Nicholas Cooper (Suffolk) and Ashvin Degnarain (London)
Fourth Official: David Avent (Northamptonshire)
