MK Dons will travel to Berkshire tonight (Tuesday) for their Berks and Bucks Senior Cup First Round tie with Hungerford Town.
The Dons reached the last four of the competition last season, missing out on a place in the final after defeat to Beaconsfield SYCOB. The side had beaten Aylesbury United 4-0 in the quarter-finals to set up the clash.
Dons forward Alan Smith and Goalkeeper Coach Paul Heald will take charge of the game and are expected to name a mixture of both first team players and youth prospects in their matchday squad.
George Baldock, Tom Flanagan and Ben Reeves are all set to be involved along with winger Daniel Powell, who is keen to get minutes under his belt having just recovered from an ankle injury. Harry Hickford, Brendan Galloway and Giorgio Rasulo are amongst the youngsters due to make the trip.
Hungerford Town come into the game having won their last six competitive fixtures, without conceding a goal. Bobby Wilkinson’s side had lost their opening four League games prior to September but their recent run has seen them climb into 10th place in the Calor League Premier Division table.
Leading goalscorer Josh Parsons has four goals to his name already, while the Crusaders squad also includes former Republic of Ireland international Alan O’Brian, who made five appearances in the Premier League for Newcastle United as a youngster.
Both teams have won the competition once; the Dons in 2007 and Hungerford Town in 1982. Hungerford have also finished as runners-up on three occasions (1976, 1977 and 1979)
Kick-off is scheduled for 7.45pm on Tuesday 1st October. Tickets for this match are priced at £10 for adults and £5 concessions with tickets only available to buy on the day at Hungerford Town.
