Brentwood Town 0 Ladies 2

30 October 2013

MK Dons Ladies returned to winning ways on Sunday afternoon, with an impressive 2-0 victory over Brentwood Town.

Goals either side of half-time from Heather McDonnell (pictured) and Hannah Barrett were enough for the side, who climbed into sixth place in the South East Combination League table with their second win in four games.

The match was Matt French's first in charge of the Dons Ladies after the goalkeeping coach stepped into the role of Ladies caretaker manager following the resignation of John Dyer.

Despite making a strong start to the game, the visitors did have goalkeeper Trip Witney to thank early on, after she kept the scores level with a fantastic diving save.

The lively Barrett then struck the crossbar before McDonnell put the Dons ahead on 40 minutes with a close-range finish after latching onto Charly Wright’s teasing cross. Wright, who was a constant threat throughout for the Dons, did well down the left before delivering the inch-perfect ball.

French’s Ladies continued to dominate after the re-start and they finally sealed the deserved victory 10 minutes before the end courtesy of Barrett, who curled a brilliant free-kick beyond the Brentwood ‘keeper to make it 2-0.

The win sees the Dons head into next weekend’s FA Women’s Cup tie with Leighton United Vixens, full of confidence.

MK Dons Ladies: Witney, E Brockwell, Farron, Cutting, Butterwick, Bingham, Stanton, Barrett, Wright, Mann.
