Powell: Team still confident

1 November 2013

Winger Daniel Powell is confident he and his team-mates can return to winning ways this weekend when they entertain Walsall at stadiummk.

MK Dons head into this Saturday’s game having lost five of their last six games and the men from MK1 currently occupy 11th place in the Sky Bet League 1 table.

However, a victory over the Saddlers tomorrow afternoon could launch Robinson’s men back into the play-off places and Powell is optimistic about their chances of doing just that.

Speaking to MK Dons Player, the 22-year-old said: “I thought we deserved more (against Tranmere) because we limited them to very few chances and we just got hit on the counter attack. Every time team’s have a chance against us, they seem to be going in at the moment but hopefully that’ll change.

“We’re still feeling confident because we’ve been playing well the last few games, we just haven’t been getting the results. When it comes to Walsall we’ll definitely be up for it and up for getting three points.

“We’re not far off the play-offs and three points in this division can push you right back in it because it’s so tight. We just need to take one game at a time and hopefully we can get the three points on Saturday.”

Personally for Powell, Saturday’s game provides him with another chance to get important minutes under his belt, with the winger still playing catch-up following  an ankle injury which kept him out of the opening two months of the season.

The former Dons trainee, though, admits he’s feeling stronger and fitter each time he steps foot onto the training pitch and is looking forward to being back to 100 percent in the near future.

“I’m feeling fitter each time I play a game and very training session my ankle’s feeling stronger” he added.

“Damo (Damien Doyle) and Simon (Crampton) have run me quite a lot and I’m gradually getting stronger and stronger but the best fitness you can get is from playing games and I’ve been playing them back-to-back recently so I’m feeling a lot better.”
