England U21 squad named

7 November 2013

Gareth Southgate has named his England Under-21s squad for next week’s Euro qualifiers against Finland at stadiummk.

Premier League stars such as Wilfried Zaha, Ravel Morrison, Raheem Sterling and Carl Jenkinson, as well as former Dons boss Paul Ince's son Thomas, who is currently playing for his father at Blackpool, could all be gracing the MK1 pitch a week today.

The Three Lions, who also face San Marino this month, have a home double-header to bring their 2013 fixture list to a close and Southgate has selected a 22-man group for the games.

England go into the matches sat on top of Group One after two impressive victories over San Marino and Lithuania last month.

And Southgate selects a similar squad for these games, which sees Finland in opposition at stadiummk on Thursday 14 November and then San Marino are the visitors to Shrewsbury Town’s Greenhous Meadow on Tuesday 19 November.

Leicester City defender Liam Moore is one new addition to the squad, almost a year after his Under-21s debut against Northern Ireland at Blackpool.

QPR’s on-loan Spurs midfielder Tom Carroll misses out through injury, after he was substituted with an ankle injury during the 5-0 win over Lithuania and Norwich City winger Nathan Redmond is also sidelined through injury.

Southampton defender Luke Shaw and Derby County midfielder Will Hughes are both back in the squad after withdrawing from the games last month.

And defender Andre Wisdom serves the final two games of his suspension, following his red card in the 1-1 draw with Finland in September.

The group meet up at St. George’s Park on Sunday evening to begin their preparations for the two games.
