Bamford up for Player of the Month

6 November 2013

Patrick Bamford has been nominated for the Sky Bet League 1 Player of the Month Award for October.

The MK Dons striker, who is currently on loan until January from Chelsea, scored four goals last month including a wonderfully cushioned control and assured finish against Gillingham and a pinpoint winner against Rotherham United.

Bamford has become the first-choice striker for Karl Robinson thanks to the 20-year-old’s goalscoring prowess and his cultured hold-up play. It is the first time Bamford has been nominated for the award.

He does, though, face tough competition from Coventry City’s Carl Baker, Wolves’ James Henry and Peterborough’s shot-stopper Bobby Olejnik.

Meanwhile Wolves boss Kenny Jackett, Coventry City’s Steven Pressley, Leyton Orient gaffer Russell Slade and Stevenage’s Graham Westley are all up for the Manager of the Month Award.

The nominations are decided by a judging panel comprising of Sky Sports Football League expert Don Goodman; Football League Head of Communications John Nagle; League Managers’ Association Director Olaf Dixon and Sky Bet Head of Football Paul Wiggins.

The winning player and manager will be announced on Friday 8th November.
