17 November 2013

Patrick Bamford has been drafted into the England Under-21s squad ahead of their UEFA European Under-21 Qualifier against San Marino on Tuesday.

The forward, who is currently on loan from Chelsea, has been called up to Gareth Southgate’s side as a replacement for Saido Berahino, who is suspended for the match.

20-year-old Bamford, who has previously been capped at U18 and U19,will link-up with the Young Lions this evening to join in with their preparations ahead of the qualifier, which will take place at Shrewsbury’s Greenhous Meadow Stadium.

Bamford, in his third loan spell with the Dons, has made a great impression on League 1 this season. He is currently the Dons’ top goal scorer with 12 to his name and was recently named the Sky Bet League 1 Player of the Month for October.
