Milton Keynes Dons can confirm one first team player will leave the Club this summer, while two players have had options taken up on their contracts.
Mathias Kouo-Doumbe will become a free agent upon the completion of his current contract but is able to seek a new club from today, while the Dons have triggered the one-year options on Jon Otsemobor and Gary MacKenzie’s current deals to see them contracted to the Club until June 2014.
Defender Kouo-Doumbe joined the Dons in August 2009 from Plymouth Argyle and became a strong and versatile asset to the Football Club.
During his four seasons with the Dons, Kouo-Doumbe made 141 appearances for the men from MK1 and netted on 11 occasions. He was also part of two play-off campaigns under the guidance of current Dons manager Karl Robinson.
Robinson said: “Mathias has been an excellent servant to this Football Club and has proven to be a tremendous professional. He is a strong character who has played a large part in our recent history and it was a hard decision to release him this year.
“However, with the Financial Fair Play regulations becoming even stricter this season we have to be prudent with our recruitment policy and along the way we will have to make tough decisions.
“I would like to thank Mathias for all of his work and dedication to the Club over the past few years and wish him the best of luck in the future. He is someone I class as a friend of mine and he will always be a
friend of the Football Club's.”
The Club can also confirm new contract offers have been made to Adam Chicksen, Dean Lewington and Ian McLoughlin.
Earlier this month the Club took up one-year options on the contracts of Shaun Williams and Dean Bowditch, while David Martin inked a new two-year deal with MK Dons to extend his stay at stadiummk to 2015.
The Club would like to thank Mathias for his efforts during his time with MK Dons, both on the pitch and in the development of the Football Club. Mathias leaves with our best wishes and with the best of luck in his future endeavours.
