After months of hard work on the football pitch most players are currently winding down and enjoying the rest before pre-season kicks in.
Dean Bowditch, however, has been in the thick of things over the last few weeks preparing for the biggest day of his life.
Dean is set to tie the knot with his fiancé Hayley this weekend and the MK Dons striker told mkdons.com that he cannot wait for the ‘big day’ to finally arrive after months of preparation.
“I’ve got a big summer ahead of me because I’m getting married.” Bowditch said. “It will be a very proud moment for me. I can’t wait for it now, there has been a lot of organising which has gone into it, especially for Hayley, and the countdown is on now. It’s going to be a great day.”
With strict plans from fitness coach Damien Doyle, there has been little respite for the Dons players as their work over the summer will be tested upon their return to stadiummk in late June. Not that Bowditch minds though, as he prefers to stay busy in the close-season.
He added: “When I was younger I used to think about football too much in the off-season. I used to go away and still think about it but as I’ve got older I’ve realised you can’t do that because you have to switch off and relax.
“But, I’ll still be playing a bit of golf and making sure I stay in shape for when I come back. To be fair, though, I’m not the type of person that can put on lots of weight however I’ll still be doing stuff over the summer to make sure I come back sharp and raring to go.”
