Danso stars in Austria win

3 May 2013

Dons youngster Kevin Danso scored twice as Austria Under-15s brushed aside Northern Ireland 4-0 in a friendly earlier this week.

Danso, who earned his first cap for Austria earlier this year, linked up with his international team-mates on Tuesday ahead of the fixture which took place in Belfast on Wednesday.

And the young Dons midfielder got the visitors off to the best possible start after he headed home Albin Ramadani’s cross in the 18th minute.

Five minutes later, the Austrian’s doubled their lead courtesy of Bayern Munich youngster Marco Friedl before Danso netted his second of the match after reacting quickest to a defensive error.

West Bromwich Albion starlet Arnel Jakupovic, who replaced Danso in the 63th minute, then completed the scoring for Austria as they romped to a comfortable victory in Belfast.

Afterwards, team boss Manfred Zsak told the Austrian FA website: “This was only the second game of this team and they deserved to win today, the boys were highly concentrated from the beginning and have consistently put the pressure on. I am very satisfied with the performance of my team."
