Gary MacKenzie has today (Friday) joined Blackpool FC on loan until the end of the season.
The Scottish defender will link up with his new team-mates later today after signing on emergency loan, which is subject to a recall, with the Seasiders.
Paul Ince and Alex Rae recruited MacKenzie for the Dons back in 2010, although Ince subsequently left the Club. The former Dundee centre-back, though, has stayed on Ince’s radar and he has now enlisted MacKenzie’s services to turn around the fortunes of the Seasiders.
MacKenzie, who has been with the Dons for almost three years, has endured a difficult season. A hip operation in the early part of the 2012/13 campaign ruled him out for three months meaning he has been limited to just 17 appearances.
Over the next two months MacKenzie will be able to test himself in one of the most exciting and competitive leagues in English football.
MacKenzie is expected to go straight into the Blackpool squad for their game against Bristol City tomorrow.
