Loan round-up

30 March 2013

Gary MacKenzie scored his second goal for Blackpool on Friday afternoon while Tom Flanagan helped Barnet keep a third successive clean-sheet.

MacKenzie, who has made five appearances for the Tangerines since joining them earlier this month, lashed home from close range to put Paul Ince’s side ahead against Blackburn Rovers, although they were later pegged back by Jordan Rhodes’ 79th minute equaliser.

The draw keeps MacKenzie and Blackpool five points clear of the drop zone with just seven games left to play, although the Lancashire outfit have lost only once in their last six matches. Next up for them, is a visit from fourth-placed Crystal Palace on Easter Monday.

Elsewhere, Flanagan and Barnet were held to a goalless draw at home to Dagenham & Redbridge. Edgar Davids’ side have now gone 270 minutes without conceding a goal.

Flanagan, who could have given away a penalty for an apparent handball late on against the Daggers, has yet to be breached when starting for the Bees, helping them steer clear of the relegation places in League 2.

The Dons’ centre-half will be hoping for another shut-out when they travel to relegation-threatened AFC Wimbledon.
