Giorgio Rasulo helped England Under-16s to a 1-1 draw with Holland on Tuesday night while Dele Alli and the Under-17s were beaten by Russia on Monday.
Rasulo played ten minutes for the Young Lions as they took a point off the Dutch in their first game of the Montaigu Tournament. Charlton Athletic full-back Archie Edwards grabbed England’s only goal to level things up in the second half after Holland had taken the lead moments before the break. Rasulo arrived on the scene in the 75th minute and almost won it late on but his shot sailed just over.
Rasulo and the Under-16s will now dust themselves down and prepare for their clash with Chile on Thursday.
24 hours earlier, England Under-17s suffered a 2-1 defeat to Russia in a crucial UEFA European Championship Elite Round qualifying clash. The Young Lions could have topped Group 6 with a win but after taking the lead through an Aleksandr Makarov own goal, the hosts slipped to their first loss of the tournament courtesy of goals from Ayaz Guliev and Ramil Sheydaev.
Dons midfielder Alli arrived as a 57th minute substitute for England but couldn’t help them avoid defeat, with the starlet picking up a booking in the late on for a foul on Dzhamaldin Khodzhaniyazov.
Next up for Alli is the final game of the Elite Round qualifying against Slovenia this Thursday afternoon. England need to beat their Group 6 rivals and hope Russia slip up to Portugal in order to book a place in the UEFA Under-17 European Championships this summer.
