England Under-17s have called upon Dele Alli for their forthcoming UEFA European Under-17 Championship Elite Qualifying Round.
The MK Dons Academy midfielder has been named in the 18-man squad - and is the only player to be at a Club outside the top two divisions – which will take on Portugal, Slovenia and Russia during 10 days later this month for a place in May’s Euro Championship Finals in Slovakia.
Alli, who was away with the squad last month competing in the Algarve Tournament, will link up with his team-mates on Sunday 17th March as England prepare for their first game, which will be against Portugal at Walsall’s Banks’s Stadium on Saturday 23rd March.
A hectic schedule will then see the Young Lions play host to Russia two days later before their tournament comes to a close against Slovenia on Thursday 28th March.
Only one team from the four competing will make it through to the Finals and qualification into the Finals will also provide an opportunity to seal a spot in the FIFA U17 World Cup, which is held in the UAE later this year.
Head coach John Peacock said: “We are now getting to the crucial end of the season, which we have all been preparing for.
“The prize of reaching the UEFA U17 Finals is a significant one, with the top team here qualifying for this important event.”
