Banton: Exciting opportunity

17 July 2013

New loan signing Jason Banton is excited by the prospect of playing his football with MK Dons for the next six months.

Crystal Palace starlet Banton joined Karl Robinson’s side on loan until January 5th earlier this morning and the exciting winger is eager to get started having tasted his first dose of League action last season.

Scoring six goals in just 14 appearances for Plymouth Argyle in 2012/13, Banton is looking forward to making the step up to League 1 with the Dons this campaign and he told mkdons.com that he’s pleased to be here.

Banton said: “I’m pleased to be here. It’s a step up from last year for me, having been with Plymouth in League 2 and so I’m excited to have the chance to play a division higher this season.

“Before last season, I’d just been waiting for the chance to play first-team football and fortunately John Sheridan gave me that opportunity and I feel I took it.

“Playing 14 games for Plymouth last season, I feel like I’ve adapted to League football, because obviously Under-21 football isn’t really a big thing. When you’re playing on Saturday for the three points you’ve got to give it everything you’ve got in them ninety minutes.

“For those that don’t know me, I tend to play out wide and in-behind the striker, I just like to be creative really and, of course, I like to score goals.”

Banton has been handed the number 21 shirt.
