O'Shea completes Spireites switch

11 January 2013

Milton Keynes Dons have today (Friday) reached an agreement for the free transfer of Jay O’Shea to Chesterfield.

The Irish-born winger recently completed a loan spell with the Spireites and has subsequently signed a deal to keep him with the Derbyshire side until June 2014 following the cancellation of his contract at stadiummk by mutual consent.

O’Shea, 24, featured 52 times for the Dons during his 18-month stay in Milton Keynes, netting eight times in the process.

The former-Birmingham trainee made his debut for the Club on the opening day of last season against Hartlepool United and played a part in all of the Dons’ first seven fixtures before picking up an injury which kept him out of action until November.

After scoring on his return to the side against Nantwich Town in the FA Cup, O’Shea went on to make a further 27 appearances for Karl Robinson’s side with highlights including scoring important equalisers in the 1-1 draws at Hartlepool United and Chesterfield.

O’Shea also played a role in the FA Cup third round tie away at Premier League QPR as well as featuring in both legs of the play-off semi-final defeat to Huddersfield.

Everyone at the Club would like to thank Jay for all his efforts during his time at MK Dons and wish him the best of luck in the future.
